I'd like to think I am quite organised talking about storing my yarn.
It is never perfect though!
The yarn I dye for sale I keep in boxes stacked on top of each other.
My website and its pretty sophisticated inventory system helps a lot.
Ravelry is also a good source to organise your stash and is also great for keeping your projects nicely databased.
I keep my personal yarn in this pretty woven basket.
